On the evening of 16 August, two ‘heroic’ police officers, who were patrolling nearby, immediately rushed to Sungai Klang, Kuala Lumpur after they received reports from the public regarding a family trapped in a flash flood.

The victims – a couple and their daughter were fishing along Sungai Klang. Their experience turned nightmarish when they were almost drifted away by the strong currents of the river caused by the high water levels due to the rainy season. According to the victims, it started to rain heavily when they were fishing but they were not aware of the rise in the water level, which led to them being trapped.

The video of the valiant efforts by the traffic police rescuing the victims has since been circulated online.

From the 20 seconds video, it can be seen that the two brave men risked their life by simply hanging on to the iron grill while attempting to save the victims. Despite the lack of protective gear and equipment, the victims were successfully rescued without any injuries reported.

In the meantime, this incident that went viral online has earned the officers plenty of praise from the netizens who felt they were heroic and valiant in their efforts.
