A fire broke out in the early morning in a hardware store in Johor today (12th August 2019).
According to Sin Chew, five people were in that building at the time of the fire. They were struggling to escape the 2-storey shop-house in Taman Bukit Indah, Johor.
It is understood that at the time of the incident, a Chinese man climbed out of the shop through a window which is connected to the signboard to call for help.
He shouted that there are many more cubicles in the vicinity (as in there might be people trapped in one of the cubicles). He also said that the fire has spread to the point that they can’t escape anymore.
Later on, it was said that the people in the building were actually a family of 5. Two passed away in the fire (believed to be the mother and the daughter), 2 others are in a coma and one was a relatively conscious child.
A spokesperson of the Johor State Department of Welfare has confirmed that two people were indeed killed in the fire, but the case is still under investigation.
The police are also investigating the cause of the fire.
Oh no! Thoughts and prayers goes out to the family. We hope that the police and Bomba will be able to get down to bottom of this case.
