This is so heartbreaking to see! Netizens were shocked by videos of an old man rummaging for food at a huge dumpster in Ipoh. He looks like he has been starving for a few days as he looks through the rubbish for any food that the public has thrown away.

Facebook page Ipoh 怡保 uploaded two videos of the old uncle on social media and gained more than 8,600 shares in less than 24 hours. In the caption, the page writes, “This old man’s situation is really heartbreaking. Please help him. This incident happened near Ipoh UTC at Pasar Besar. This old man was seen looking through the rubbish bin for food and eating other people’s food remains.”

In the video, the old man looks like he is homeless as he is dressed in dirty clothes and it seems that he hasn’t taken a bath in days. He looks really scrawny and malnourished as he roots through the rubbish. As soon as he spots something edible, he eats it without hesitation and continues scavenging for food in the dumpster. So sad!

A few commenters said that they have seen this uncle before in other parts of Ipoh, and would often buy food and drinks for him. Some of them would also offer him money but he often refuses this. They also said that they have seen him collect rubbish as well. One netizen who appears to know this man’s backstory said that he was from a poor family and had some mental sickness when he was younger but because his parents did not have the ability, they could not bring him for treatments – though this has not been confirmed.

That poor old man! Hope he and other people in similar situations receive the help they need so they don’t have to scavenge for food like that anymore!
