If you’re using any of these products, you might want to think twice after reading this!
Yesterday (21st December), the Ministry of Health issued a public warning regarding a number of cosmetic products that reportedly contain scheduled poison.
It was discovered, under the National Pharmacy Regulatory Division, that these skincare products were found to contain mercury, hydroquinone and tretinoin, according to the New Straits Times.
Here are the products you should steer clear of;
- Nuriz Shoppe – UV Pearl Cream (contains mercury)
- Nuriz-D’solve (contains mercury)
- Aura Gorgeous Night Cream (contains mercury)
- NV Anti Blemish Toner (containins hydroquinone and tretinoin)
“Products containing hydroquinone and tretinoin are registered pharmaceutical products which have to be registered with the drug control authorities and can only be used with the health professionals supervision,” said Health Director-General Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.
Using products containing these chemicals can reportedly cause your skin to turn red. On top of that, it can cause discomfort, hypersensitivity, and even changes in your skin tone.
These products can also cause de-pigmentation, which reduces the skin’s protection from UV rays, thus increasing one’s risk of developing skin cancer.
Datuk Dr Noor Hisham added that the previously mentioned products have since been recalled by the ministry.
So, remember to avoid these products at all costs. They’re definitely not worth horrible skin problems!
