A 30-year-old man in Singapore was sentenced to 7 years and 11 months in jail after pleading guilty to 10 charges, which include wrongful confinement and physically harming his girlfriend with lethal weapons.

The couple stayed together in Tampines, and the woman wanted to go out to meet her godfather. The jealous man, however, accused his partner of having an affair with the elderly and stopped the woman from leaving the house.

He dragged her into the room, hit her with a mop handle, tied up her hands, and made her strip naked. Unfortunately, the nightmare and torture did not end there.

The man then slashed his girlfriend’s thigh with a 30cm long saw, hit her head with a wooden hammer, and filmed her naked as she lay on the bed.

Deputy Public Prosecutor Jonathan Tan said that the man released her before filming her naked on the bed after seeing her hands had turned purple. For her release, the man told the woman to beg, which she did, and he threw her a pair of scissors so that she could cut the shorts that were tied to her ankles.

The torture took place in January 2023, but a few months before that, the victim had already suffered another torture.

In September 2022, the woman received a call from an unknown number, to which the man accused her of receiving a call from a male intern from her workplace.

The angry man tied his girlfriend to the bed with a cable tie before pouring gas lighter fluid onto her body.

He then held an open flame to her chest, which burned the part of her body.

For the wounds that she sustained on her thighs, the woman did not seek medical help, and according to Jonathan, the woman had forgiven the man, with whom she is no longer with.

“He was possessive of his girlfriend and was a bit jealous. The Major Depressive Disorder contributed to his anger and the way he reacted, but what he did was not premeditated. He acknowledges the seriousness of his actions,” Jonathan said, reported The Straits Times.

The man cannot be named due to a gag order to protect the identity of the victim.
