Weddings are one of those things where if you mess up, the effects can be disastrous just because of how significant the event is and how much preparation went into it. However, that is not always the case.
A video of a man messing up the statement of his dowry at his wedding has gone viral on the Internet amusing netizens.
In a video posted in the Facebook group Perak Press, the man, who is the groom can be seen reciting the terms of the Islamic marriage contract (akad nikah).
As he tries to remember what he had memorised, he nervously states that the dowry is RM500 million in cash.
Meanwhile, the marriage officiant who was a witness to the wedding can be seen facepalming as he realised what the groom had said.
Wedding guests, the bride and other witnesses who were listening attentively to the groom, burst out laughing at the blunder.
They were tickled by his slip of the tongue and how he seemed to be unaware on why everyone was laughing.
Netizens were delighted
Netizens in the comments section of the Facebook post shared the wedding guests’ amusement as they expressed their enjoyment over the 15-second clip.
“Adoi… so cute. Congratulations newlyweds.”
“I’ve watched this 10 times… made me laugh,” commented a user.
Meanwhile, netizens were also amused by how nervous the groom was that he did not realise his mistake even after everyone started laughing.
They could sympathise with him because he looked so faint when he realised something had gone wrong!
“The problem is, it’s one thing that he mistakenly said 500 million. But after everyone’s already laughing at him, he’s still unaware of what actually happened. He really was nervous,” said a netizen.
