As we grow older, sleep seem to have become more and more precious to us. Our lives are constantly filled with things that leave us tired, such as our work and social life.
And it seems like a norm that adults are often sleep deprived and stressed out. Hence, one gym in the UK saw an opportunity and introduced napping classes to the public. Yes, NAPPING CLASSES!
It is indeed as good as it sounds. Prospective nappers could pay for a 15 minutes stretching exercise followed by a 45 minutes nap in an ‘ideal temperature’ with a room of strangers. It counts as hitting the gym too right?
The program is called “Napercise” and it is said that the class could “reinvigorate the mind, improve moods, and even burn the odd calories.”
It is natural to be skeptical of the program. However, apparently there is legitimate science behind the program.
According to a study done by Allegheny College in Pennsylvania, the participants who took a 45 minute nap in the middle of their day handled stress way better than those who don’t. Another study done by UC Berkley found that having an afternoon nap could increase the brain’s learning capacity.
