There’s a saying, never bring a knife to a gunfight. Well, someone decided to bring a chair instead.

A man in Sibu, Sarawak, is gaining attention online after he chased off a gunman with a chair at a mall.

Netizen, Datuk Jahat Hensem, took to his Twitter account to showcase CCTV footage of the incident, where 2 people wielding guns have allegedly shot at and injured 3 people.

He wrote, “A case of a shooting in Sibu, Sarawak. 2 people reportedly opened fire at the Medan Mall in Sibu. 3 people were injured. This incident is being investigated by the police.”

In the CCTV footage showcased, both gunmen could be seen (one inside and one outside the mall) as they shot at something or someone outside of the camera frame.

They then fled the scene before a man came running in their direction with a chair held up as a weapon!

“This person from Sibu has a different kind of gangster soul. Those people are shooting with guns and he can chase them back with a chair,” Datuk Jahat Hensem added in a separate post.

According to a report by I Love Borneo, the 2 gunmen had apparently disguised themselves as food deliverymen and injured 3 teenagers in their shootout. However, it is unclear as to what their motive was.

This incident took place at around 5pm on New Year’s Day (January 1, 2024).
