GSCinemas has clarified that the photos of the mouldy cinema seats that went viral recently are not of GSC’s theatres. If you don’t know what they’re talking about, here’s a recap.

GSC then shared several photos of the theatres taken from the Suria Sabah branch showing clean and good-as-new cinema seats and carpet.

“The photos of the moldy cinema seats are not of GSC’s theatres. We have been following a stringent set of guidelines to maintain our cinema since the first day of the Movement Control Order (MCO),” they wrote.

GSC then shared that they ventilate the cinema and turn on the air conditioner to circulate the air for a few hours every alternate day. They also carry out mould and fungal checks across all halls and seats which includes proper sanitisation.

GSC also maintains their equipment by running and warming up their projectors.

GSC then shared that they take even more care and precautions when they are not operating to keep their cinemas in good condition.

“As we are not operating, it is imperative that we take even more care and precautions for our cinemas to keep it in good condition so that we are ready to welcome audiences back when it is time to open,” they said.

This is comforting news for some of us who are concerned about our safety the next time we visit a cinema. Rest assured, you can trust that GSC keeps their halls and seats fungus free!
