While we stay home and do our part to flatten the curve, delivery food riders are out there ensuring that we get our food, and it’s really sad to see bad things happening to the ones who are risking their lives.
A 40-year-old woman who works as a GrabFood rider was a victim of a hit-and-run accident that left her with head injuries.
In a Facebook post, the woman from Singapore shared that she was riding her power-assisted bicycle at about 7.30pm on 3 April when she was hit by a car that drove off immediately.
She suffered pain in her head and giddiness and had to be admitted to Khoo Teck Puat Hospital to do a CT scan four days later.
“The doctor referred me to KTPH to do CT for my head, because I see stars when I stand too long. I can’t walk very straight,” she said in her post.
The mother of five also told Stomp:
“I am still in pain. It’s been so hard for me because I need to work to feed my family. I usually do GrabFood 14 to 18 hours per day, but now I can’t even work.”
“My e-bike is totally spoiled, installments are still ongoing, bills have to be paid, and I have to give my children allowance.”
She then urges those who witness the accident to come forward with any information that could help her.
“I lost a lot because of this accident and hope there are witnesses who can come forward.”
How irresponsible of the person who hit her and drove off immediately! Hopefully the authorities will be able to find this person give them the punishment due.
