Ever since interstate travel has been banned, a lot of people try desperately to balik kampung. Some of them managed to reach their kampungs by using dirt roads/ small roads. However, the police have since taken action and have now sealed those roads too.

Recently, a civil servant in Putrajaya was caught forging an interstate travel permit.

The Kedah police chief has confirmed this and said that the suspect works as a government clerk in Putrajaya and he was initially allowed to go back to his hometown. The excuse he gave is that he needed to deliver medications to his father. With that, he was allowed to go back to Pendang with his wife and children.

Officer noticing that something was off

On 25th May, the suspect went to the Pendang police station and applied for an interstate travel permit. The officer who read the permit issued by the Putrajaya police station noticed something was amiss, so he called them and confirmed the details with them.

However, an irregularity stuck out as it looks like the date on the permit has been changed. The family was supposed to leave Pendang on 17th May but have changed it to a more recent date.

All four of them are not allowed to leave as they are under investigation for forgery (Section 468 of the Penal Code). If found guilty, the man will face a maximum jail term of seven years and a fine.

Well, in the famous words of Datuk Akhbar Satar,

“Clever clever squirrel jump… one day fall to the ground also.”
