The government is looking into a proposal to develop housing projects above train stations, in an effort to reduce traffic congestion.

According to a report by Berita Harian, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said that the proposal is being looked over together with Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL), and its implementation would require several regulatory amendments that are being worked on.

Houses 1

“This means that (the people’s housing project) will be developed on top (of train stations). (There will be) commercial housing (as well), not all of it will be people’s housing (PPR), but some of it will be,”

“This will be done (to reduce traffic congestion),” he said.

MADANI City

This comes after the construction of vertical schools was introduced for MADANI Cities in Putrajaya, as well as several locations in Penang.

Anwar shared that these vertical schools will be developed with strict safety requirements and a better design compared to existing schools.

“The MADANI City in Putrajaya will indeed introduce a vertical school, and parking, and all will be down below. The housing level will really be a ‘garden’ while the school is above,” he said.
