This is the most heartbreaking story we’ve heard all day.

A little girl named Annabelle was born with Crouzon Syndrome. This rare genetic condition has left her with bulging eyes, which makes it almost impossible for her to close her eyes.

Therefore, she’s always tired. Besides, the condition has also resulted in deformities on her face.

As if having to suffer the condition wasn’t bad enough, Annabelle’s mother even had the audacity to sell her off to drug dealers for extra cash. Apparently her mother was struggling financially to take care of Annabelle and her other five kids.

The heartless drug dealers completely exploited Annabelle’s appearance and made her beg for money on the street. She was sent to the streets with another woman pretending to be her mother. Both the victims were badly beaten until they were reduced to tears in order to gain sympathy from the public. These drug dealers are animals!

It was unclear how long Annabelle had gone through the torment, but thankfully, she was eventually saved by a good Samaritan named Gonzalo Erize when she was five years old.

The young man from Argentina works for Kalipay Negrense Foundation, an organisation that focuses on helping exploited children on the street. He managed to free Annabelle from the syndicate.

He then took her to a hospital in Manila to receive surgery for her syndrome.

“The people in charge of her care told me that she woke up at night, shouting from the nightmares of her past.

“But I was there ready to give Annabelle the opportunity of a better life, where she could play without pain and live worthily,” Gonzalo said.

It wasn’t a one-off procedure too as she had to go through a few paediatricians, dentists and neurologists.

“All the effort was worth it. Annabelle came out successfully from cranial surgery, resulting in the brain being able to grow.

“It was completely cured and today she knows the meaning of enjoying, of having fun and of living.”

Annabelle is now living happily with 200 other kids aided by the Filipino charity. She even got to blow out birthday candles on her cake!

We’re glad to know that Annabelle has recovered completely and is now in good hands. Good luck, Annabelle!
