Humans staying indoors may singlehandedly save endangered animals from extinction!

After all, the pandas in Hong Kong, Ying Ying and Le Le, are finally mating, as according to The Star. This is a cause for celebration as the officials have been trying to get them to mate for over a decade.

“Since Ying Ying and Le Le’s arrival to Hong Kong in 2007 and attempted at natural mating since 2010, they unfortunately have yet to succeed until this year, upon years of trial and learning,” said Ocean Park conservation official, Michael Boos.

Pandas have a history of being terrible at reproducing, especially in captivity. Hence, it’s truly nice to see the pair making the best of their time out of the human eye to mate and hopefully slowly save their species.

Experts will now monitor Ying Ying for signs of pregnancy, though the gestation period for giant pandas range from 72 to 324 days, Ying Ying may exhibit hormonal fluctuations and behavioral changes as early as June, that is if fertilisation has occurred.

I guess the best time for these majestic creatures to mate is when they’re not under pressure from humans.

I mean, who would be comfortable with people watching them as they tried to mate?
