Playing mahjong has always been a favourite activity among the Chinese community around the world. However, on Wednesday around 11am, an explosion from a mahjong table occurred in a mahjong parlour in Wugang city, Hunan, China.

A loud, roaring sound was heard when the table exploded which caused the mahjong tiles to fly and create a messy scene. The cause of the explosion is not confirmed, as initial investigations revealed that it was not the automatic mahjong machine that exploded.
The authorities suspect that it may have been caused by flammable or volatile items at the mahjong table that were activated by cigarette butts.

Five people were injured in the incident, where four of the players sitting at the table suffered from injuries that caused their face to turn black, while another person displayed unmistakable signs of singed hair.
The victims have been sent to the hospital for further treatment.

Sustaining these injuries are no laughing matter, but some netizens couldn’t help but look at the funny side of things. Especially when the men themselves were in on the joke!
