Anyone and everyone on the internet would have seen the video by now. Which video, you ask?
It’s the one of the Garuda Indonesia plane landing like a bouncy house in a storm. Just in case you haven’t seen it, here it is:
Obviously, the video is fake.
Former Malaysia Digital Economy Corp (MDEC) Chairman, Dr. Rais Hussin, shared an article on his Twitter page, debunking the landing video as a fake.
He wrote, “This video of a ‘Garuda Indonesia plane’ has been computer-generated. Fact check.”
But this was after he had fallen prey to the video, believing it is real
Netizen, @fazsham, shared a screen recording that showcased a post by Dr. Rais that has since been deleted.
“It’s obvious the video is an animation. You must filter more before you share.”
Dr. Rais’s deleted post indicated that he believed that the video was real and that there were passengers aboard the plane.
“Garuda Indonesia landed today (7 January 2022) in Mashhad City, Iran. Apparently, all passengers are safe with little or minor injuries!” he had written.
In his defense though, there are multiple posts from foreign social media pages that also showcased passengers exiting what looks like the Garuda Indonesia plane, after it had ‘landed’.
Here’s an example:

So, with that being taken into consideration, would you blame him for believing the ridiculously cartoon-ish video to be real?
