A shocking incident on the beautiful island of Nusa Penida in Bali, Indonesia, was caught on camera recently, depicting a catastrophic outcome of a foreign tourist testing a rental motorcycle despite not knowing how to ride.

A video of the incident has since gone viral in Indonesia, including this Instagram post by @destinasiwisatabali, showing how the foreigner, a Russian national, literally rode the motorcycle into the sea.

A foreign tourist in Bali plunges into the sea with a rental motorcycle

The first half of the video is a CCTV recording of the incident, which took place on the Banjar Nyuh harbour in Nusa Penida.

The Russian tourist can be seen slowly riding the rental motorcycle at the harbour. A few seconds later, the man looked like he was trying to make a turn on the motorcycle but lost control of the vehicle.

Panicked, he then tried using his foot to stop the motorcycle, but to no avail and ended up plunging into the sea alongside the 2-wheeler.

Several individuals can then be seen rushing to save the man who had fallen into the sea with the rental motorcycle.

In the second half of the video, this time recorded by someone at the harbour, the Russian tourist can be seen trying to climb back up onto the harbour.

Thankfully, he seemed unhurt from the ordeal.

Meanwhile, another individual, believed to be a local, can be seen trying to bring the motorcycle back to land.

The man had just arrived in Nusa Penida with his friend

According to the Indonesian portal TribunNews, the incident took place on Sunday (2 February) at around 11.40pm local time.

The Russian man had just arrived in Nusa Penida with his friend and wanted to rent a motorcycle to explore the beautiful island.

Before renting, the man wanted to test out the motorcycle first but ended up plunging into the sea because he didn’t know how to ride a 2-wheeler.

The report confirmed that the foreign national wasn’t injured from the incident. Afterwards, he and his friend continued their vacation on the island.
