Just last night (March 28), the national football teams of Malaysia and Hong Kong faced each other in a friendly at the Sultan Ibrahim Stadium in Iskandar Puteri. The match ended in a 2-0 win for the hosts in a fiery encounter.

Despite it being just a friendly, it appears that unruly fans on both sides have taken to social media to insult and provoke the fans of the opposing team.

Such comments were left under the social media posts for both national football teams.

Hong Kong social media users left nasty comments in regards to Malaysia Airlines Flight 370 and how although they lost the match, at least, they didn’t lose an airplane.

Meanwhile, Malaysian social media users left racist remarks commenting on how people from Hong Kong have slanted eyes and labelling them as Hong dogs.

Outrageous behaviour

The actions of both sets of fans have since been met with criticism by other social media users.

“Actually fans of both teams are low quality when it comes to football.”

“So very horrible and terrible to have fans behave in such a repugnant, reprehensible and repulsive manner,” said another user.

We hope that fans of both sides take this as a lesson to avoid trash talking in such an insulting and disgraceful manner.
