Seriously, what’s up with all these steroid-infused products?
Just recently, the authorities in China launched a massive inspection on various models of face masks following the complaints of many consumers who suffered from allergic reactions. Many had experienced a swollen face while their eyes could barely open after using some face masks from Guangzhou City Cosmetics.
The inspection shockingly revealed that several brands actually have issues. For instance, the bacteria found in Bovey Fashion Mask had exceeded the limit by 7,200 times, which can reportedly disrupt the natural bacteria found on our skin.
Just so you know, these natural bacteria are responsible for fighting off disease-causing microbes. The bacteria-infested face masks were later confirmed as counterfeit by the authorities.
Meanwhile, two other brands were found to have illegally added glucocorticoid, a steroid hormone, into the product. It’s true that this particular hormone is effective against inflammation and can even shrink the pores on our face.
However, long-term usage will:
- Increase blood-sugar, which can lead to temporary or long-term diabetes
- Suppress the user’s ability to absorb calcium, which can lead to osteoporosis
- Increase the cholesterol and triglyceride levels
- Suppress the immune system and make the user more prone to infections
- Give the user a round face, thin skin, high blood pressure and pink stretch marks

So guys, if you love buying face masks from shops overseas, especially China, through online stores, please check their authenticity before putting it on your face. The best way is to just buy from reputable sources!
