Earlier, two members of the Malaysian Islamic Party (PAS) suggested that local airlines should refrain from serving alcohol on flights and replace the beverage with Sirap and Cendol.
Kepong Member of Parliament (MP), DAP’s Lim Lip Eng, responded to the matter in the Dewan Rakyat yesterday (22 October), calling the remark a “non-democratic suggestion”, and told the PAS members who suggested the idea that every non-Muslim reserves the right to consume alcohol.

“If you don’t like it, create your own PAS Airline”
In his response, Lim said many other airways, such as Qatar Airways and Gulf Air, also serve alcohol on their flights. The Kepong MP then told PAS that the party should come up with its own airline if they are still not in favour of local airlines serving alcohol to passengers.
“To PAS, I’m telling you, if you don’t like it, I suggest you establish your own airline. Call it the PAS Airline,” Lim was quoted as saying in the Dewan Rakyat.
And since the imaginary PAS Airline will be serving no alcohol, the Kepong MP doubted the airline would last long if it were ever established.
“Let’s see how long before PAS Airline goes bankrupt,” he added.

Perikatan Nasional’s (PN) Tuan Bakri Jamaluddin, the Tangga Batu MP, responded and said that many other airlines, including Saudi Arabia Airlines (SAUDIA) and Pakistan International Airlines, do not serve alcohol to their passengers.
Meanwhile, Kuala Krai MP, PN’s Abdul Latiff Abdul Rahman, stood up and interfered, telling Lim that DAP should also come up with its airline – DAP Airline that serves alcohol on board.
“Drink as much as you want,” Abdul Latiff said.
Previously, during the tabling of Budget 2026, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim announced that the prices of alcohol would increase by 10% starting in November 2025. What do you think of alcoholic beverages on airlines?
