A fun pastime for most young people, bowling is an incredibly underrated sport. However, one particular grandmother may be bringing a particular interest back to the game that we haven’t seen before.
A recent TikTok video has been making waves online after Malaysian fitness trainer Billy Ewilai shared a moment of his grandmother playing the game at a bowling alley in Sungai Petani, Kedah. In the clip posted to his account @billy_kewratthanakpradit, the young man’s grandmother, carrying a bowling ball all by herself, steps up to a bowling lane before tossing her ball towards a stack of pins.
Hitting just a couple of pins down initially, multiple people in the seats behind them cheer for her loudly.
Shortly after that, one of Billy’s friends gives a tip to her. Taking his advice, the elderly woman throws the ball down the lane again and impressively knocks down all but one pin this time.
Erupting in cheer, the entire bowling alley roars in applause for the grandmother’s achievement, celebrating the score. Some people even asked to take a photo with her after the game. When it was time to go home, Billy asked her if she had a fun time, to which she responded by saying that she did.
Speaking to WORLD OF BUZZ, Billy stated that his grandmother, whom he calls Tok, often follows him to the gym whenever he has his training sessions. Normally, Tok even follows them to the bowling alley afterwards to watch them play a few matches, as she stays with Billy full-time.
“I took a student of mine along to play bowling. On that day, one brother challenged Tok to see how good she was at bowling, so she gave it a shot and knocked it out of the park,” said Billy to WORLD OF BUZZ.
Garnering a massive response online, many people praised Billy’s grandmother for how sturdy she was, adding that she was probably better at the game than she probably realised.
“Wow, it must have been an experience for her to play bowling!” commented one user.
