A video of a man slapping another young man in a restaurant has recently gone viral on social media. The incident took place in Tropicana Avenue, Petaling Jaya and on the day before the second implementation on Movement Control Order (12 January 2020).
The man, who owns a “Datuk” title was seen hitting another man in the video after the latter asked the Datuk and his friends to lower down their voice. The victim of the video also turned out to be the son of another “Datuk”, a notable person in Malaysia’s architecture industry, according to Sin Chew.
The police chief of Petaling Jaya district, Nik Ezanee Mohd Faisal told BERNAMA that the Datuk was also suspected to have slapped the victim’s girlfriend before leaving the restaurant.
According to FMT, two men, including the Datuk and his friend was arrested by the police over the assault, and the case is being investigated under Section 323/506 of the Penal Code.
