A car driver was killed while three motorcyclists were injured after they were hit by a car driven by a man believed to be under the influence of alcohol who drove against traffic at kilometre 17.5 Highway Lekas at 3.20am today (16 February).
The victim, Abdul Salam Saad, 34, from Bandar Tun Abdul Razak, Pahang, who was driving a Proton Persona, was killed at the scene after suffering severe injury to the head.
As reported by Berita Harian, the district police chief, Superintendent Mohd Nor Marzukee Besar, said the accident at 3.20am involved five vehicles, comprising two cars and three motorcycles. He said preliminary investigations found Abdul Salam was on his way from the Pajam Toll Plaza exit to Seremban.
The allegedly drunk driver was going against traffic to exit the Pajam Toll exit as well. This led to the vehicles colliding with each other.
Accidents involving drunk drivers are happening more and more these days. We need stricter rules as a deterrent against these selfish and irresponsible individuals. If not, more and more innocent roads users will suffer.
