As the fuel in our country has a set price, many of our neighbours would drive into Malaysia and pump a full tank before heading back to their country.
Throughout the years, we have seen many attempts to “create more space for fuel”; some shook the car vigorously while others tilted them.
Recently, a netizen uploaded a series of photos taken when they were at a petrol station in Johor Bahru and posted them in a Facebook group.
The photos showed how the driver of a Singaporean-registered Jaguar sedan had taken out a brick and proceeded to place it under the right rear wheel.
This was all done before the driver started refuelling the car and it can be inferred that the brick was used to prop up the car so that he could get “more fuel.”
According to Sin Chew Daily and Oriental Daily, many netizens said this is the epitome of the ‘kiasu’ (scared to lose) attitude.
Others asked the person who took the pictures if they offered to help the driver shake the car, while others stated that Malaysians who use RON 97 would not prop up their cars like this, as it’s embarrassing.
According to the Straits Times, tilting or shaking your car when filling it up does not equate to more fuel. Hence, there’s no need to waste time and energy doing so.
