The police have opened an investigation on allegations that a group of people gathered to eat durians at a vaccination centre (PPV) in Johor after a video of the incident circulated on WhatsApp.
The video shows more than a dozen people standing in close proximity to each other while eating durians outside a building, believed to be the Dewan Jubli Intan Sultan Ibrahim in Johor Bahru, which has been a PPV centre since 20 June, reported Kosmo.
Johor Bahru Selatan police chief ACP Mohd Padzli Mohd Zain said a report about the apparent violation of standard operating procedures (SOP) under the National Rehabilitation Plan (PPN) Phase 1 was received at about 3.41pm on Sunday (18 July), according to Astro Awani.
“We have received reports about the viral video showing a group of individuals gathering,” he said.
“Police are identifying whether the officers at the PPV were involved in the video and further investigations are still underway.”
Meanwhile, he added that the case would be investigated under Regulation 17 of the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases Regulations 2021.
