We all know how Facebook and Twitter have imposed strict guidelines and restrictions in order to keep both our online and offline communities as safe as possible.
However, President Donald Trump got himself locked out of his Twitter and Facebook accounts after he incited his supporters to storm the U.S Capitol in Washington in an attempt to overturn his election loss.
According to Time, both companies temporarily suspended the President from posting on their platforms as well as removing several of his posts.
After 12 hours, Donald Trump was allowed back on Twitter but was warned that he would be “permanently” banned if he breached the rules of the platform once again.
Facebook’s CEO, Mark Zuckerberg, however, begged to differ. He said in a post that they will continue to block President Trump on its platforms until the end of his term on 20 January. According to him, the risks of allowing Mr Trump to post “are simply too great”.

Donald Trump supporters have stormed and breached the U.S. Capitol on Wednesday, 6 January, after his speech claiming the election had been stolen from him.
This is what Trump told the crowd, urging them to head to the Capitol, “If you don’t fight like hell, you’re not going to have a country anymore.”
As reported by Time, Washington, DC’s mayor issued a city-wide curfew, from nightfall through the next morning.
At the time of writing, four people have died, leaving a permanent scar on American Democracy.
