The Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living, Satuk Seri Salahuddin Ayub, who was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the Sultanah Bahiyah Hospital (HSB), Alor Setar, since last Friday (July 21) was confirmed dead at 9.23pm, Sunday (July 23).
According to a report by Astro Awani, the matter was confirmed through a statement by his daughter, Fatihah Salahuddin, through her social media account.
“We are saddened to be informed that the head of our family, Salahuddin Ayub has gone to God at 9:32pm, July 23, 2023,” she wrote.
Salahuddin, 62, was previously rushed to the HSB emergency ward at about 10:15pm on Friday and received treatment after experiencing nausea and vomiting, before being diagnosed with a brain haemorrhage by a specialist doctor.
He had initially survived a surgery on Saturday morning (July 22) and was in stable condition. However, after being closely monitored in the ICU, he had ultimately passed on. He leaves behind 6 children from his marriage to his wife, Datin Seri Fatimah Taha.
Salahuddin was appointed as the Deputy President of the Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah) since 2015.
In the past 14th and 15th General Elections (GE), the deceased won the Pulai Parliamentary seat and was a Johor State Assembly Member for the Simpang Jeram area in Muar.
Following that, he was appointed as the Minister of Agriculture and Agro-Based Industry fduring the era of the Pakatan Harapan (PH) government in 2018.
