Whenever you go to a public building such as a hospital, police station or government building, you’d often see the staff and workers working on what seems to be old computers.

However, we might not be aware of how outdated the computers they are working on actually are.

A few days ago, a doctor who is under the Health Ministry took to Twitter to complain about the severely outdated and slow computers and servers that they have to work on.

Computer

In their post they wrote, “Can you guys tell me what’s the point of waking up early and going to work early if the computer has been lagging like this since 8am.”

The doctor also shared a video to showcase the lag which they are facing.

In the video, it is said that although the computer is running on Windows 7, the website or server which hosts their work is on Windows Server 2000 which means that it is severely outdated.

Better equipment for our doctors

Although the post has since been deleted by the user and the user has also deactivated their account, netizens have continued to share it in hopes of sparking a change.

Malaysians are saying that it is unfair that our doctors have to deal with slow and outdated equipment.

“Wonder how much productivity can increase if there is an overhaul on their IT architecture.”

“Crazy, even my clients with RM10k capital could afford a better server. Corruption is a disease,” said a user.

Meanwhile, a couple of users accused the ministry of making the doctor delete the tweet and their account.

“Instead of covering it up, you should let doctors expose the things that don’t make sense so you guys can get better funding for better computers,” said a user.

We hope that the doctor is not punished simply for sharing about one of the obstacles they face in their job.
