Not all heroes wear capes, and sometimes the hero is a good boi.

On 15th May, a disabled dog, Ping Pong, rescued a baby boy that was BURIED ALIVE in Northern Thailand.

As reported on BBC, Ping Pong was seen to be barking and digging in a field in Ban Nong Kham Village. His owner then noticed a baby’s leg sticking out of the ground! OK, that sounds like a terrifying thing to discover.

The locals then rushed the baby to the hospital, and he was cleaned up and declared healthy by the doctors.

It turned out that the baby belonged to a 15-year-old teenager who was too afraid to let her parents find out, resulting in her abandoning the poor boy. She was then charged with child abandonment and attempted murder.

According to China Press, she was scared of being beaten by her father if he found out that she was pregnant. So, it seems like she hid her entire pregnancy from her parents all this while.

Panuwat Puttakam, an officer at Chum Phuang police station, stated that the teenager is now under her parents’ care, as well as consulting a psychologist. He also mentioned that this teenager “regrets her action”.

Luckily, the teenager’s parents have decided to raise the baby.

Now, let’s applaud this good boi, Ping Pong, who lost the use of one of his legs after being hit by a car.

Ping Pong’s owner said that “he’s loved by the entire village”, and they think it’s amazing how Ping Pong was able to find the buried baby. He also mentioned that he “kept him because he’s so loyal and obedient, and always helps me out when I go out to the fields to tend to my cattle”.

As we’re applauding Ping Pong’s heroic act, we should not be distracted by the fact that a teenager abandoned her newborn son. It’s definitely a sign that we need more education and options available for family planning.
