There are Malaysians out there in the world, achieving big things in fields and industries we never thought we would see Malaysians in.

For instance, would you ever think that a Malaysian could become a world champion in bagpiping?

The Dose of Society TikTok page took to their account to showcase a Malaysian Sikh man, who happened to be the head of the Sri Dasmesh Pipe Band. Just so you know, the Sri Dasmesh Pipe Band actually became the first Southeast Asian group to win the World Pipe Band Championship!

In the video, Dose of Society asked Pipe Major Tirath Singh, “What is something I wouldn’t believe about you?”

“I am currently a world champion in bagpiping”, Tirath cheekily responded, taking Dose of Society by utter surprise.

Explaining further about how he got into bagpiping, he shared that it was his father who had led him towards the bagpipes.

“I currently am the head of a band, back home in Malaysia, and my dad studied in Glasgow in 1986, and he brought the bagpipes home and he started a band from there.”

“30 years later, we achieved his dream of winning a world championship in Glasgow, against the Scots, against the British, against everyone in the world, and from Malaysia, first band to ever do it,” he said.
