A mother’s love knows no end.
Recently, a dedicated mum made headlines when she walked all the way from the Johor Bahru Customs point to Singapore on foot. The caring mother had reportedly moved to Johor for two weeks during the start of the MCO when her son desperately needed her help to look after his kids. However, she made the decision to head back to Singapore not long after that because her 80-year-old husband was ill and needed to be taken care of, as said by sources from Astro Awani.
The committed mum and wife started her journey from Johor at 5:00pm on Sunday (29th March), and only reached Boon Lay, Singapore at 9:30pm after four tiresome hours of walking with the added weight of her luggage bag.
Thankfully, her efforts didn’t go unacknowledged.
“As her son, I feel extremely touched when I look at this picture because it reminds me that a mother is willing to do whatever it takes for her family even if it means sacrificing her time,” said Herman Sudil. Herman said he needed his mum’s help to look after the kids because he needed to attend to his wife who was undergoing surgery at the hospital.
“I am confident that the viral picture of my mother walking on the causeway doesn’t just apply for my mother but every woman who’s willing to sacrifice for their family. Even when mothers are tired, they’d do anything for family.”
The grateful son went on to give a word of advice: “To all sons, brothers and husbands, cherish these angels we call, women.”
Pictures of the devoted mum resting at the side of the road went viral on Sunday after it garnered attention from netizens who wondered why she was making the journey on foot. According to Herman, the picture was taken by her nephew who accompanied her back to Singapore on Sunday evening.
We truly don’t deserve the unconditional love and sacrifice our mothers give us. Remember to thank your mum today!
