Doctors worldwide are all working hard to ensure that Covid-19 patients get an adequate amount of care and attention. Thing is, lots of people forget that these doctors are also humans and they have their family and loved ones waiting at home for them to come back.

One particular post by a Covid-19 frontliner shares the reality of being a working mother amid this pandemic.

Meet Faiqah, a mother of two children and a frontliner at the Sungai Buloh Hospital.

In a Facebook post, she shares her struggles at work and how she manages everything in this “frustratingly dire pandemic”.

She starts off by describing the things that she needs to do as part of the SOP for managing Covid-19 patients. So first off, they have to wear a special suit that is very confining and hot and it’s called a PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) suitWhenever they need to be in contact with Covid-19 patients or suspected patients, they would need to wear this suit, especially when they enter isolation wards.

After exiting the isolation wards, they would need to take out this suit and throw it. After that, they are required to shower themselves. Faiqah takes a lot of caution at this step as she is still pumping out breast milk for her 5-month old baby every four hours. She even said that she showed more than five times on that day (16th March) as she is super paranoid.

Every single time she showers, she makes sure that she washes her hair as well. After feeling frustrated with her long hair that takes a long time to dry, she decided to cut her hair there and then. She says she looks like Ronald McDonald but she has awesome self-confidence so she doesn’t mind it.

When she got home after her tiring shift, her husband saw her hair, pulled her close and told her this in front of their children,

“Even if you were bald I would still love you.”

Minutes later when Faiqah was dressing her toddler son after his shower, he told her this,

“Mummy, your hair is silly but you are pretty. I love you.”

Awww this is so sweet! And also thank you for your service, Faiqah!

We would like to thank all the people who are working to curb the spread of the Covid-19 coronavirus! Other than that, we Malaysians should take the Movement Control Order seriously and practice social distancing religiously! If you are unclear about the order then you can call the hotline @ 03-88882010.
