Democratic Action Party (DAP) Teluk Intan has filed a police report regarding a statement allegedly linking crimes to specific races.
Pakatan Harapan (PH) Teluk Intan representative, Badrul Hisham Bin Badarudin, shared that the statement, allegedly made by Chairman of the Central PAS Agro-Based and Environmental Sustainability Committee, Dr Azman Ibrahim, crosses the racial red line for labelling races by the letters ‘M’ and ‘C’, and linking them to crimes.

He wrote, “Who are the M and C races? What is the real intention in labelling a race with the letters M and C?”
“The Teluk Intan DAP team has filed a police report against a statement that attempts to link crime to a race. This is not just an issue of sensitivity. This is also an issue of principle and national security. Crime does not represent ethnicity. Crime does not represent religion. Crime does not represent race.”
He went on to clarify that linking criminal acts to certain races is a dangerous incitement that sows hatred, poisons the mindset of society and opens the door to division.
“Today, they dare to label 1 or 2 races. If left unchecked, who will be the target tomorrow? Or what other issues will be linked to racism?”
“Stop normalising racial issues”

Badrul Hisham Bin Badarudin went on to explain his belief that hiding behind terms such as “opinions” and “freedom of speech” is unacceptable, as it is okay to have different views, but inciting racial sentiments is not.
“Don’t hide behind the terms ‘opinions‘ or ‘freedom of speech‘. This police report is being made because Malaysia cannot be built on hatred and society cannot be educated with a narrative that divides,”
“Different views are normal. Inciting racial sentiments is a moral and social crime. Stop normalising racial issues. Maintain harmony. Strengthen unity,” he added.
Where this started
This allegedly comes after Dr Azman Ibrahim shared a statement on Facebook regarding the issue of a pig farm in the Tanjong Sepat area of Kuala Langat being linked to racial issues in terms of bribery and corruption.

“Corruption is a big problem for the country; it is not a problem of any race, and it is not an issue of what the corrupt eat. That is why I highlighted some facts when the narrative was pushed that ‘we eat pork, but we don’t engage in corruption.’”
“When it comes to the pork issue, the main concerns raised are about odour pollution, water pollution, environmental pollution, and various other environmental problems that are deeply troubling. The areas affected are often environments inhabited by people who do not consume pork,” he said.
He then explained that in a multiracial Malaysia, Malay Muslims feel disrespected when pig farms operate in areas where the majority of residents do not consume pork and went on to link the ‘C race’ to giving bribes, while the ‘M race’ accepts bribes.
“Who can deny that the smell and pollution from pig farms are extremely unpleasant and nauseating? Why must Malay Muslims be the ones to suffer?”
“The bottom line is, do not shift the issue by linking pork to corruption. Corruption is a problem affecting all races. Many from race C give bribes, while many from race M receive bribes. The reason is simple: race M dominates the public service sector. Other races are also involved in corruption,” he added.
