As Malaysia continues to sizzle under one of its hottest heatwaves in recent years, many of us are searching for ways to beat the scorching temperatures. As if the climate crisis we continue to face now isn’t enough, prices of goods have also skyrocketed.

While air conditioning, fans and taking multiple cold showers a day may help, sometimes the best way to cool down is with a refreshing and delicious cold dessert. That’s why we’ve rounded up 7 mouth-watering cool desserts under RM10 that you can try in Klang Valley.

1.Fat Boon ABC, Kepong

First up on our list, all the way in Kepong is the classic Fat Boon Ais Batu Campur (ABC) stall. Our top two picks here is the Yam Sago (RM10) and Mango Sago Shaved Ice (RM7.50).

Both desserts come with generous portions of each ingredient making it fulfilling and a bang for your buck! Of course other options like the classic ABC and even a Kiwi Sago shaved ice bowl can be found here, guaranteed to cool you down.

2. Hong Kee Dessert, Petaling Jaya

Second on our list is a popular Tong Sui stall in PJ called Hong Kee. People in PJ swear by the desserts sold here. Tong Sui is a Cantonese sweet soup or pudding dessert that can either be served cold or warm.

The all-time bestseller here is the classic red bean and green bean Tong Sui without coconut milk. Other cold Tong Sui with ingredients like peach gum, yam and sea coconut are also crowd favourites.

For a cold refreshing dessert, we recommend the Ai Yu jelly with lemon, priced not more than RM5 for one bowl.

3. Soon Kee Herbal House, Pandan Indah

If you’re looking for more comforting pick me ups, this authentic and nostalgic herbal house in Pandan Indah might just be the place for you.

Serving a big selection of herbal tea and cold desserts, Soon Kee Herbal House has been satisfying customers for decades. Our favourite is the Longan Taufu (RM4.50) and the cooling Menthol Gui Ling Gao Herbal Jelly (RM9.50).

4. Ah Keong’s ABC & Cendol, Brickfields

Next up we have Ah Keong’s ABC Cendol stall located in Brickfields, Kuala Lumpur. This stall has been operating for over 20 years by Ah Keong and his wife and it’s always busy with customers.

The stall’s cendol and ABC (Air Batu Campur), which are popular Malaysian desserts made of shaved ice, coconut milk, palm sugar, and various toppings.

The cendol here has a perfect balance of sweetness and creaminess, with a generous amount of pandan-flavored green jelly noodles while the ABC is comes with a variety of toppings such as red beans, sweet corn, grass jelly, and peanuts.

If you’re an ABC or Cendol enthusiast then this spot is a must visit for you! Prices of these desserts start at RM3.80 per serving.

5. ABC Kedai Batu 22, Desa Pandan

Another popular ABC spot is located at Desa Pandan. This simpler rendition of ABC is much loved by residents of Ampang for it’s reliable taste and cheap price of only RM3 per serving. You surely won’t be disappointed!

6. Cocktail Buah Cedok, Sungai Buloh

If you love fresh fruits and milky sweetness then this new dessert trend that’s taking Malaysia and Indonesia by storm might just be your choice of cooling dessert.

Contrary to the name, the fruit cocktail actually has no alcohol so it’s more of a mocktail of different variations of deliciously chopped tropical fruits paired with sweeet milk and jellies.

There’s loads of other stalls around Klang Valley selling variations of these fruit cocktails but it’s rare to find one priced at RM10 so grab the chance to try this up and coming local small business!
