A man in Guangxi, China, recently visited his ancestors’ graves to pay respect during the Ching Ming festival and had one of the biggest shocks of his life upon arrival.
Not only were the tombs gone, but the entire cemetery disappeared and was being turned into a sugarcane field.

The man, Mr. Soo said during his visit to the empty land, there was a bulldozer with several farmers working at the scene. Shocked and baffled, Soo approached one of the men to get answers, and one of the farmers said,
“A village cadre contracted this land to us, so we’re working to turn this land into a sugarcane plantation.”
Cadre refers to a small group of people specially trained for a particular purpose or profession
That land rightfully belongs to Mr Soo
It turns out that the local government provided the land to Mr Soo and his family to be used as a cemetery. The village cadre, however, rented out the land without Mr Soo’s consent.

They hired the workers to raze the land without informing Mr Soo that the graves would be relocated.
With the mess that was caused, no one could identify the location of the graves. The family initially had four graves in the cemetery, and even if the graves were found, it was hard to tell who they belonged to.

Mr. Soo negotiated with the village cadres, and if both parties couldn’t reach an agreement, the former said he would bring the matter to the police. The incident was shared on a video that is currently circulating on Weibo.
