If you’re active in sports, chances are you’re a health junkie and you’re likely to have a huge physical makeover. In China, an internet celebrity experienced a huge makeover after 4 years of cycling around the country, but it’s possibly NOT the changes that you’d be expecting.

The “celebrity” cyclist, Ah Qiu recently got his bicycle stolen in Hong Kong, and he went to lodge a police report about the matter, as revealed via his latest Douyin post. However, his physical changes became the talk of the town. Many netizens and locals mistook him for an uncle in his 50s, when he is only 31 years old.

Ah Qiu has been documenting his cycling journey over the years and if you trace all the way back to the beginning of his cycling journey, he used to look like his age in 2019, and that was only 4 years ago. Those who just started following Ah Qiu on Douyin, a Chinese social media platform equivalent to TikTok, many have suspected that Ah Qiu is not the same Ah Qiu who started his cycling journey 4 years back.

In one of his Douyin’s posts, Ah Qiu had no choice but to “produce” his ID and prove to the netizens that he was indeed born in 1991.

It was also reported that last week, the police in Hong Kong managed to track down the person who stole Ah Qiu’s bike. The man admitted to stealing and selling Ah Qiu’s bicycle. As of now, the police are still tracking the buyer.

Ah Qiu, however, did not reveal what caused his obvious “makeover”, but many netizens have their own theories as to why Ah Qiu “aged” in 4 years. According to HK01, some netizens believed that the lack of sun protection during cycling caused Ah Qiu’s obvious “makeover”.

In the meantime, other netizens also claimed that Ah Qiu aged quickly in just a few years because he is constantly exposed to rough winds, sunlight, and uncertainties in the weather. Keep in mind that Ah Qiu has been cycling for 3 years around different states in China, which includes,

  • Fujian
  • Shanghai
  • Jiangsu
  • Beijing
  • Tianjin
  • Liaoning
  • Inner Mongolia
  • Shanxi
  • Henan
  • Anhui
  • Guangdong
  • Hainan

As of now, despite his changes, Ah Qiu continues to cycle around the world as you can see on his Douyin.

What do you think caused him to look older than he is in just 4 years?
