Mydin is sometimes known for its snarky comebacks when it comes to viral social issues. Just recently, a politician got major criticism online after expressing her fears of cancer and autism from low-quality Menu Rahmah.
Mydin was one of the earliest organisations to introduce its version of Menu Rahmah, and it didn’t take them long to indirectly respond to Dr Halimah Ali, the politician who has concerns about the food security of Menu Rahmah.
Just last night, Mydin shared an image of their version of Menu Rahmah on their Twitter page and shared the nutritional details of the food that they serve.
From the poster you can see that Mydin’s menu rahmah consists of a plate of rice (carbohydrate) with vegetables (vitamins) and fish (protein). The meal comes with a bottle of mineral water. However, the nutritional details are not the “star” of the image.
If you look closely, Mydin subtly responds to Dr Halimah’s statement with its tagline at the bottom.
“Cancer-free and will not cause autism.”
“Mydin’s response is simple but snarky”
Many Malaysians took the opportunity to thank Mydin not only for their efforts in explaining the details about the food they serve but also for maintaining the initiative to help its B40 customers.
Some of them also praised Mydin for its simple but snarky comeback.
“As a jobless man, I’m so grateful for this RM5 menu from Mydin. It’s satisfying and delicious.”
“Took Mydin a simple response to get back at that politician. So with everything that’s shown in the image, what actually causes cancer and autism?”
A netizen also praised Mydin for its delicious and cheap Menu Rahmah.
“It was my first visit to Mydin. I started to shop after I was done eating Menu Rahmah. The items are cheap.”
“The end notes made me laugh. Mydin is even smarter than some people who have a Dr title.”
“You’re not necessarily smart even if you have a Dr title. It’s better if Mydin carries the Dr title instead.”

In the meantime, Dr Halimah Ali also responded to the criticisms and said that her words have been misinterpreted.
Mydin certainly knows how to entertain us netizens, and come to think of it, it can also be one of their marketing strategies to attract more potential customers not only for its Menu Rahmah, but also to shop at their outlets.
