Ever had problems telling your friends exactly where you are via text message whenever you meet up with them? Well, WhatsApp has a solution to that problem!

WhatsApp’s latest update has been getting everyone’s attention, because one of its new features, “Live Location”, allows users to send out their current location to their friends. Sounds kind of stalker-like right?

Thankfully, according to The Independent, this feature does not make your location public and is only meant to be used for a short time. Phew! 

So, how do you access this feature? Well, once you’ve updated the app, here’s how you share your location!

  1. Go to any of your chats on WhatsApp
  2. Press the “add” or “+” button
  3. Press “location” and select “Share Live Location”
  4. Select how long you want your real-time location to be shared
  5. Press “send”
  6. The live location will appear on the receiver’s screen

You can share your real-time location for either 15 minutes, 1 hour or 8 hours. 

Although it’s been reported that this update will be available for iOS and Android only in the next few weeks, many people already have access to this feature.

WhatsApp isn’t stopping there with their latest updates, though! According to NDTV, users can expect a group call feature to be added in the near future, although an exact date has not been announced yet. A group video call feature could also be on the way!
