In the early hours of Tuesday morning (26th February), a bus reportedly collided into a railing near the Tuas Checkpoint, killing one and injuring 16 others, according to Channel NewsAsia.
A 35-year-old woman was reportedly found dead at the scene while the 16 victims who sustained injuries were taken to Ng Teng Fong General Hospital and National University Hospital in Singapore.
In a Facebook post by the Singapore Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA), the heavy vehicle lane was closed while police and the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) authorities were currently at the scene. Meanwhile, buses and lorries at the checkpoint were being diverted back to Malaysia, causing traffic to build up even more.
Motorists were also advised to alternatively use the Woodlands Checkpoint for arrival and departure.
