It’s no secret that the fast-food industry is really competitive, considering there are so many brands fighting for the top spot of the best fast food place. But with the Covid-19 pandemic comes economical challenges, workers all over the world are losing their jobs.
Which is why it’s beautiful to see how they’re now choosing to put competitiveness aside in support and solidarity with food industry workers everywhere.
Burger King UK took to their Facebook page to release a somewhat controversial yet refreshing statement, urging the general public to support their competitors.
They wrote, “We know, we never thought we’d be saying this either.”
Their statement titled, Order From McDonald’s, comes in consideration of the millions of people who are working in various fast food franchises to make a living for themselves.
“We never thought we’d be asking you to do this. Just like we never thought we’d be encouraging you to order from KFC, Subway, Domino’s Pizza, Pizza Hut, Five Guys, Greggs, Taco Bell, Papa John’s, Leon… or any of the other independent food outlets, too numerous to mention here. In short, from any of our sister food chains (fast or not so fast),” their statement read.
“We never thought we’d be asking you to do this, but restaurants employing thousands of staff really need your support at the moment. So, if you want to help, keep treating yourself to tasty meals through home delivery, takeaway or drive thru. Getting a Whopper is always best, but ordering a Big Mac is also not such a bad thing,” they added.
Now more than ever, we need to support each other to get ahead of the economical challenges that follow the Covid-19 pandemic.
If huge, international corporations like Burger King can put aside their differences with their competitors in support of their employees’ well-beings and livelihoods, we all can definitely put aside our differences for the sake of the underprivileged and the betterment of the community.
Kudos, Burger King!
