In his latest live telecast to the Malaysian public, Education Minister Dr. Mohd Radzi bin Md Jidin has announced that schools nationwide will be reopened to examination students taking SVM, STPM, SPM, STAM, and equivalent international examinations, by 24th of June 2020 (Wednesday).
This reopening will commence with strict adherence to SOPs that have been released by the Ministry in conjunction with the Ministry of Health and the National Security Council.
At present, classrooms will continue to remain limited to 20 students maximum, depending on size, and schools will only be allowed to operate in these following hours according to SOP:
- Single-session schools: 7.00am – 4.00pm
- Double-session schools: 7.00am – 6.45pm
In addition, break times will be staggered, and food and drinks will be packed by canteen operators beforehand. Students are to eat in their classrooms only, after purchasing food from canteens.
Activities that include face-to-face co-curricular activities, sports, and large gatherings are forbidden. Students must also ensure to always keep a 1-metre social distance at all times, and temperature screenings for students, teachers, and school staff are required at school gates prior to entering.
Students and teachers alike are also highly encouraged to wear face masks on school grounds.
