After ending the day with eight death cases related to Covid-19 yesterday (21 March), we are saddened to report about the 9th death that occurred this morning.
The Ministry of Health made an announcement on their Facebook page, informing the public that the 9th patient who passed away earlier today (22 March) was a 48-year-old male doctor registered under the Ministry. He was the first Covid-19 death case among healthcare professionals in Malaysia, and the Ministry revealed that he was Case 890.
The Ministry had also revealed that the victim had a history of travelling to Turkey, and he was admitted into Hospital Tuanku Fauziah, Kangar on 17 March after experiencing symptoms of Severe Acute Respiratory Infection. He was tested Covid-19 positive on 18 March and the hospital had provided him respiratory support on 19 March as his health was declining.
The doctor was announced dead at 10:33am today.
In the Facebook announcement, the Ministry explained that this particular case was unrelated to the frontlines or from the colleagues who handle Covid-19 patients. Instead, his case was categorised under having a travelling history overseas.
Rest in peace and we send our deepest condolences to his family.
