The Merdeka parade this year was held in Putrajaya and it seems that even when there is a new government in place, the attitude of many Malaysians are still the same especially when it comes to public hygiene and garbage disposal.

According to a report by TV3, there were heaps of rubbish that were found at the venue where the parade was held.

It is said that the pavements of the area and the corridors near the governmental offices were littered with trash. Those who managed to snag a seat at the grandstand were no better as well and there were leftover food, bottles and flags left underneath the seats.

An Alam Flora supervisor said that the garbage left behind is 5 times more than usual and that they are disappointed with how some Malaysians have irresponsibly left their garbage lying there even when they have provided trash cans.

It is said that for this event, Alam Flora provided 700 mobile garbage cans that were strategically placed to enable everyone to dispose of their trash properly.

Well, we all talk a lot about improving the country, however, there are still many things that we should also improve on as citizens and keeping public places clean is one of them.
