The Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) has filed a police report against an influencer and his brother for faking a missing persons report in Sungai Tui, Jalan Bukit Kepong, last Monday (July 14).
According to a report by BERNAMA, the Head of Zone 4 of the Johor JBPM, Senior Fire Superintendent II, Norshuhada Amsari, shared that the report was made at the Muar District Police Headquarters (IPD) at 11:30am yesterday (July 20), on the advice of the JBPM Director General, Datuk Nor Hisham Mohammad.

“JBPM considers making a false report regarding a disappearance or accident to be an inappropriate and irresponsible action because it has caused a waste of time and energy of rescue personnel,”
“Not only that, it also involves the risk of disrupting other emergency incidents because officers and personnel have been concentrated in the area where the incident was reported. This action also affects the public’s trust in agencies like us,” she said.
She added that the report is also intended to remind the public to never do anything that interferes with the duties of rescue personnel.
JBPM spent 4 days searching for someone who was alive and well
Norshuhada Amsari explained that throughout a 4-day search and rescue operation, more than 30 JBPM officers and personnel from Muar, Labis and Pagoh were deployed to the scene of the incident as soon as the influencer was reported missing by his sibling.

“The Water Rescue Team (PPDA) was also deployed to the search location in addition to using 7 assets, including those belonging to the fire brigade’s Drone Unit,”
“We were quite disappointed when we received information from the police that the victim was actually safe and not at the search location.”
She went on to express her appreciation to all JBPM personnel involved in the search and hopes that the influencer and his sibling will come forward with an open apology.
Where it all started
Prior to this, it was reported that the owner of a vehicle accessories shop had disappeared after the Perodua Axia vehicle he was driving had allegedly plunged into Sungai Tui.
However, Muar District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Raiz Mukhliz Azman Aziz, later explained that investigations found that the 38-year-old man was believed to have deliberately fabricated his disappearance before fleeing to a neighbouring country, allegedly to remarry.
His younger sibling is also believed to have abetted him by providing false statements for personal gain.
