An off-duty Bomba personnel had allegedly gotten into a verbal altercation with an elderly man, believed to be the owner of a house on fire, as his house roof collapsed during a fire.

The elderly man allegedly urged firefighters to enter his house compound to put out the fire, a suggestion that the firefighters rejected due to fear of the roof collapsing.

Netizen Rizal Ahmad took to his TikTok page to showcase a video of the incident, where the elderly man could be seen being held back by an officer to prevent him from confronting the firefighters as they attempted to put out the fire.

He wrote, “That uncle wanted the firefighters to enter the house compound to save the house. The Bomba officers did not agree out of fear that the roof would collapse. And it did collapse.”

In the video, the off-duty Bomba personnel argued with the elderly man by telling latter that he knows how to do his job. This is apparently due to the elderly man’s persistence in pushing the firefighters to enter the house’s compound, a suggestion they ignored due to the possibility of the roof collapsing.

Soon after, the house roof collapses into the blaze, causing the Bomba personnel to yell at the elderly man, “Look! Look!”, as his point was proven.

However, the elderly man appeared to be unsatisfied with the situation and tried to confront the off-duty Bomba personnel while multiple people held him back. The off-duty Bomba personnel then threatened to get the police involved while the elderly man was escorted away.

“Let them do their jobs”

Many have since called for the people to let firefighters do their job.

“Why bother the firefighters who are doing their jobs? If you’re very smart in putting out fires, don’t call the firefighters.”

“Adoi, uncle, please don’t bother the firefighters and their work. It is understandable that it is your house but they have to consider their lives as well.”

“If the situation is dangerous for firefighters, they will not enter due to specific factors. That uncle should not be giving directions to the firefighters because they know what should be done as they are trained.”
