BLACKPINK is one of the biggest musical girl groups in the world. They’ve made plenty of headlines for the awards they’ve won and records they’ve broken. Coupled with catchy songs and bold music videos, it’s hard to miss them.
In recent years, the members of the group have branched out on their own to do solo projects like Jennie’s ultra successful single, ‘SOLO’ and Rosé’s fiery ‘On The Ground’.
Lisa was the third member to embark on her solo career when she dropped her single “LaLisa” in late 2021 and it quickly became the most viewed YouTube music video by a solo artist in 24 hours with 73.6 million views.
But it doesn’t stop there! On 24 January 2023, Guinness World Records confirmed that Lisa achieved three more record titles in 2022.
She became the first solo K-pop artist to win at the 2022 MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs) when she was awarded the Best K-pop Video award for her single, ‘LaLisa’.
She also took the crown for Best K-Pop at the 2022 MTV European Music Awards (EMAs), making her the first solo K-pop artist to win the award.
Her third record title is for most Instagram followers for a K-pop artist with 86.3 million followers as of 19 January 2023. As of today, 27 January 2023, Lisa has accummulated 87.2 million followers on her Instagram.
Most streamed act on YouTube
In another part of the world, Bollywood singer Alka Yagnik has “racked up an enormous 15.3 billion YouTube streams last year – an average of 42 million per day – making her the world’s most streamed act on YouTube (2022).”
Born in Kolkata, 56-year-old Alka is an Indian playback singer, which means her songs are used as soundtracks in Bollywood films.
According to Guinness World Records, Alka “has been the most popular artist on the platform for the past three years, with 17 billion streams in 2021 and 16.6 billion in 2020″.
Coming in second and third last year was Bad Bunny (Puerto Rico) with 14.7 billion streams and Indian singer Udit Narayan with 10.8 billion streams.
Congratulations to these incredible women!
