While authorities have been tightening controls on monitoring the obedience of citizens towards the MCO by stationing more roadblocks, some individuals have decided to take advantage of the situation for their selfish gain.
Police are currently on the lookout for two men disguising themselves as PDRM officers to hold roadblocks and rob innocent citizens during the enforcement of the MCO. The suspects reportedly held a roadblock at Jalan Sungai Lembu, Machang Bubok, Kedah early Monday (20th April) morning at around 6am, reports BERNAMA.
“During the incident, a 42-year-old man working as a supervisor at a factory in Kulim Hi-Tech was driving a car from his home in Permai 2 Park, but was stopped at a road block in Jalan Sungai Lembu by two men wearing yellow vests bearing the Royal Malaysian Police logo,” said Perai Central District Police Chief, ACP Shafee Aabd Samad.
“After the victim stopped his car and lowered his window, one of the men immediately grabbed the gold chain the victim was wearing around his neck and the two suspects proceeded to hurt the man with sharp objects”, added the District Police Chief. The shocked victim fortunately managed to make his escape and immediately drove to Kulim Hospital where he was given stitches for injuries on his right shoulder.
The victim is still trying to track down the two suspects and urging eye-witnesses to come forward and provide more information to authorities.
Be careful, guys! Stay safe.
