Despite the relaxations that have been imposed for the Conditional Movement Control Order, we still have some strict Standard Operation Procedures (SOPs) that we need to adhere to. For example, if we were to dine in restaurants, social distancing is a MUST and only two people are allowed per table.

Another important SOP is when you enter restaurants that require your information, you need to write down your name and phone number. These information makes it easier for contact tracing in case of any unfortunate incident. Remember, it’s your name and phone number ONLY!

IC number and home address is NOT required anymore

Defence Minister, Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said that this information is easier and more convenient compared to where previously your IC number and also house address needs to be submitted. Netizens voiced out their concerns when they had to give out their personal information which is what led to this change of decision.

“For security purposes we follow what Gerak Malaysia is doing only to fill in names and phone numbers. This will make the Health Ministry easier to contact them.”

This is ultimately for security purposes so citizens are able to protect their own personal information.

So, remember if you go to restaurants henceforth, you don’t need to submit your IC number. If the restaurant owner insists, you have the right to refuse and even make a police report.
