Avenue K Shopping Mall once again brought the city together in a vibrant display of unity and celebration with the 9th edition of its signature AK Balloon Run, held on Sunday, 21 September 2025. The event welcomed over 3,200 participants, including runners, joggers, walkers, and differently-abled individuals, all joining in a festive morning that celebrated community spirit, inclusivity, and active living.
The event was officiated by Pn. Azura binti Abidin, Director General (Ketua Pengarah) of the National Youth and Sports Department (Jabatan Belia dan Sukan Negara, JBSN), Ministry of Youth and Sports Malaysia, together with Malaysiaās celebrated Paralympic gold medallist, Mohamad Ridzuan Mohamad Puzi. Both distinguished guests joined the flag-off ceremony for all three categories ā OKU, 10KM, and 5KM ā with their inspiring presence underscoring the Balloon Runās mission of inclusivity, resilience, and the unifying power of sports.

From the very first flag-off, the atmosphere was electric. Bursts of colourful balloons, uplifting music, and cheers from supporters set the tone for a day filled with joy and camaraderie. Families, friends, fitness enthusiasts, and differently-abled athletes took to the streets together, transforming the area surrounding Avenue K into a sea of smiles, energy, and laughter. The event embodied Avenue Kās ongoing mission to promote togetherness while encouraging an active, healthy lifestyle.
This year, Avenue K continued its proud collaboration with 360 All Ability, led by wheelchair fencer Daniel Lee, further reinforcing its commitment to adaptive sports and inclusive participation. The run stood as a powerful reminder that barriers can be broken and the strength and resilience of every individual celebrated.

Before hitting the track, participants energized themselves with a dynamic warm-up session led by Fitness First ā Avenue Kās very own tenant and the Official Fitness Partner of the run. After crossing the finish line, the celebration continued with a high-energy Zumba session, engaging games, and wellness activities. A major highlight was the spectacular 1,500-balloon drop at Avenue Kās Atrium, where balloons filled with instant rewards and surprises delighted cheering participants.
Adding to the excitement, runners also enjoyed lucky draw giveaways, complimentary health checks, and exclusive promotions from Avenue K tenants who opened early to welcome participants. The event was further elevated by the support of sponsors and partners including Fitness First, Village Grocer, Superpark, Gajeto, ZUS Coffee, Clarks, Carousel & Co., Farmerās Bar, and more, who contributed engaging activities, attractive prizes, and special treats that made the celebration even more memorable for the community.

āThe AK Balloon Run has always been more than just a sporting event ā it is a celebration of life, inclusivity, and unity,ā said Rachel Er, Centre Manager of Avenue K Shopping Mall. āSeeing people of all abilities come together in such a festive and supportive spirit truly reflects what Avenue K stands for.ā
Above all, AK Balloon Run 9.0 celebrated the strength of community ā empowering everyone, regardless of ability, to get moving, have fun, and be part of something bigger. With its resounding success, Avenue K looks ahead to 2026, when it will mark the 10th anniversary edition of this iconic lifestyle event.
