Social media is a platform where individuals can share almost anything about their lives to their friends and public. However, if you’re a smart user, you’ll know that not everything is meant to be on the internet.
One lady learnt it the hard way, and it’s a hefty price to pay. Pun not intended.
Australian woman by the name of Chantelle was at the Melbourne Cup Horse Race yesterday when her bet on a horse won. The horse is known as Prince Of Penzance and has the odds of 101-1.
The lady from Perth was so excited that she decided to share the news on Facebook, along with a very happy selfie and her winning ticket.
However, when she went to claim her winnings that amounted to $825 (RM2,532), the booth told her that the money has already been taken.
Apparently one of her Faebook ‘friend’ who must not be a real-life friend after all used the image she posted to claim her winnings. The image of her ticket she posted to Facebook evidently showed the barcode.
Careless or just plain stupid?
After she found out, she wrote on Facebook, “To the low life who is obviously my friend on Facebook and used my photo to claim our winnings. You’re a massive dick. You ruined my day,”
Authorities are currently investigating on the matter. The police reported tracked down where the money was claimed and are confident they could find the culprit.
Guess this serves as a warning for everyone out there about sharing too much information on social media.
